Let’s just grin and bear it

The government didn’t help itself by publishing the plan on the eve of elections, but it has made the right choice

Hyperbole about the supposed death of rural Ireland has had some colourful outings during the lifetime of the 32nd Dáil. Apocalyptic scenarios have won a great deal of media attention, even if their advocates have been short on credible solutions. What they have not been short on, however, is exaggeration and distortion.
