Ireland’s Euro fan club is stuck in denial

We will be relying on the kindness of the EU to get a deal out of Brexit, and they didn’t show us much charity during the banking crisis

The EU’s fan club has had a difficult time since Brexit. The extraordinary levels of anger and contempt shown to Nigel Farrage in the European parliament last week – even allowing for his gloating behaviour - were truly revealing. Seventeen million EU citizens vote to leave in a properly democratic process. Yet, judging by the mood in that assembly that day, it was as if they had done something criminal.
