Can economists handle the good news?

Good news now, bad news later? Good news is to economists what salt is to slugs. We can’t handle it, we try to get away from it, and we’re pretty sure that ultimately it’ll kill us.
Like the hapless slugs, economists probably aren’t wrong when it comes to good news. There’s a reason the collective noun for economists is ‘a depression’. I made that last bit up, but you get the idea.
