Homeless crisis is anything but ‘normal’

There has been no natural disaster here: all our problems arise from the bad policy decisions that have been made in the past

According to the outgoing chair of the Housing Agency, Conor Skehan, in this newspaper last weekend, Focus Ireland and other organisations working to tackle rising homelessness are creating a “panic” which is pushing the government into building more homes. If we played any part in convincing the government to build the 652 social houses completed last year, we do plead guilty. We can only hope to panic them into building more.
