Francesca Comyn: Boots on the ground may not be enough

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) got word last Wednesday. Armed gardaí from the regional response units would be coming up to Dublin on their rest days.

For the foreseeable future, approximately ten officers will be deployed daily from the south-east and western regions, following the tit-for-tat gangland murders of David Byrne in the Regency Hotel and taxi driver Eddie Hutch snr at his home on Poplar Row in Ballybough.
