Getting into the agreement took weeks of negotiations, but it will be far trickier for the party to navigate its way out of it

The headline in one national newspaper this week said everything we need to know about the current state of Irish politics: ‘Fianna Fáil plotting to undermine government’. The fact that the opposition party’s plan to inflict damage on the ruling party is making front page news shows just how unaccustomed we have become to robust opposition.
