In contrast to the antics in Westminster, Ireland’s main opposition party has behaved responsibly. Not that Micheál Martin will get any thanks for it

The ill-fated course Britain has been steering on Brexit has yielded many twists. One of the more interesting ones has been prime minister Theresa May’s dalliance with Jeremy Corbyn. While the music has yet to stop, it has all the appearances of an encounter unlikely to bear fruit. Are we to believe that Corbyn, an ardent Brexiteer himself, is going to rescue his main opponent from her terrible predicament and tie his party’s fate to hers?
