The argument that it has been done before doesn’t make it right - taxpayers’ money was used to promote Fine Gael candidates

Some politicians have an unerring instinct for the peripheral, rivalled only by a similar disposition on the part of some sections of the media. The froth of politics is sometimes more seductive than the substance. At first glance, the row about the government’s new spin unit is a case in point. Or more particularly the fact that there has been more focus on the political promotion of Project Ireland 2040 than serious analysis of its contents.
