Facebook’s volte-face

Denial of responsibility for content will no longer work for the US social media giant. It has power. It must deal with the consequences of that power

Two-thirds of the Irish population have a Facebook account, and three-quarters of that figure use the social network every day, according to last year’s Social Networking Tracker from Ipsos MRBI. To put that extraordinary figure into perspective, it is more than the combined daily viewership of every RTE radio and television news bulletin and the total daily consumption of Irish newspapers.
