Dixon prepares to unleash force of data sanctions
The Data Protection Commissioner has some serious weaponry in her arsenal, including a fine of 4 per cent of turnover per breach
It looks like data commissioner Helen Dixon is ready to bring down the hammer. Not long after appearing in front of a US Senate committee, she announced a further 17 investigations into multinational tech companies, eight of which involve Facebook.
This brings the total number of investigations opened by the Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) to 51 across multinational and Irish companies, and public sector bodies.
