Many of the loudest objections to the British PM are essentially cosmetic: he is just doing what most politicians in his place would do
Boris Johnson’s visit to Dublin last week was greeted here with widespread ridicule. Kathy Sheridan described him in the Irish Times as “hollow-eyed in his flapping, messy robes, trapped by hubris”. The Irish Independent’s Colette Browne thought him “meandering, nonsensical and addled”.
In the Examiner, Daniel McConnell said he was “entirely unconvincing” and Fergus Finlay decried the “fake charm and bonhomie” of a man who “leads autocratically”.
