One of the first jobs that crossed George Redmond’s desk at Dublin Corporation in 1965 was the first planning application for a shopping centre in Ireland, in Phibsboro.

The centre became the subject of a planning appeal and was eventually approved by order of Minister for Local Government Neil Blaney. It was divisive then, and remains divisive today.
