The instability argument was always bogus
Politics is in disrepute; the political party system is broken; people power is in the ascendant. The key issues of our time – health and housing – cross party boundaries; their complexities defy the simplistic pieties of party slogans.
As a number of great minds have suggested, we need a new way of dealing with these thorny issues – a more participatory, people-focused one: a citizens’ assembly.
