It is healthy to debate the performance of our institutions, both for their failings and successes. Proper debate leads to learning and better performance. Our public institutions matter, and society cannot thrive without them

Ireland’s public sector is the subject of much scrutiny and comment, and this is as it should be in a healthy democracy. The public are rightly impatient in demanding timely and effective responses from the state to the challenges facing us in sectors such as health and housing.
