Budget 2020: bland and boring will be just fine

In an age of unpredictable, brash and technicolour politicians, Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe stands out as something of a throwback to a more traditional, gentlemanly era.

With his non-confrontational, eager-to-please personality, Donohoe is cut from a different cloth to some of his predecessors. While he may be polite and personable, that should not obscure the fact that Donohoe arguably holds the most important role in government, particularly at this time.
