Brunei boycott raises questions over ethical violations elsewhere

Last week, a chain of hotels owned by the Sultan of Brunei were the subject of a campaign calling for holidaymakers to boycott them as a protest against his regime’s treatment of LGBT citizens and people deemed guilty of extramarital affairs.

There was – rightly – an eruption of criticism, mostly on social media, over the new law that made gay and extramarital sex punishable by stoning.
