The trade dispute between aerospace rivals Bombardier and Boeing is not confined to the business press. There is an inescapably important political dimension to the preliminary decision of the US Department of Commerce to erect punitive tariffs against the sale of Bombardier aircraft into the US.
The view might be taken that this is simply a matter for competition law, to be settled by the appropriate competition authorities. But governments and politicians always lock horns...
