It seems to have been a surprise to many that during the ‘back to school’ season Penneys was stocking ‘plus size’ school wear for children. But it should come as no surprise that a smart retailer would rush to meet the needs of its customers. What should surprise us, and in fact appal us, is the fact that large numbers of schoolchildren would require plus size clothing in the first place.
