Why did Carolan Lennon, Eir’s chief executive, deliver such a public and calculated kick up the transom to the government on the already controversial National Broadband Plan last month? There is nothing unusual about companies jockeying for advantage with governments but they usually do it discreetly behind closed doors. When there is a substantial disagreement, it is rare that the first port of call would be an Oireachtas committee.
