Wine merchant wins High Court appeal on €2.1m excise bill

A Dublin wine merchant has successfully challenged a €2.1 million Revenue bill relating to missing consignments of alcohol believed to have been stolen by a criminal gang.

Revenue demanded the excise duty from family-run business Citywest, formerly Cassidy Wines, in respect of deliveries to Spain and France between July and December 2008.
