Drinks group Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard has said sales volumes of Jameson whiskey rose by 12 per cent in the year to the end of June, with the value of sales rising by 16 per cent.

The company said that in 62 markets, Jameson was experiencing double- and triple-digit percentage growth.

Jean-Christophe Coutures, the company's chairman and chief executive, said what he described as "the global Irish whiskey renaissance" was continuing.
