Location: Dublin, Ireland

The Business Post Group is a diversified media group with a strong technology, data and digital driven portfolio of businesses. The flagship brand of the Business Post sits at the centre of the group and has a 30+ year track record as Ireland’s leading niche business, politics, economics and current affairs national news title.

The Business Post now wishes to recruit a Head of Design & Production. The successful candidate will play a key part in the brand’s digital transformation, while also ensuring that its printed products are produced and designed in an industry-leading manner.

The responsibilities of the role will include:

Compiling the overall vision for the production and design department of the Business Post, in line with the wider business strategy

Working with the CEO, editor and other senior leadership team members to deliver on the production and design requirements for projects and the range of diverse and prestigious products across the business; including the Business Post, Irish Tatler, Food&Wine, Connected, Auto Ireland, iQuest conferences among others

Compiling schedules while checking deadlines and controlling department budgets

Creating robust brand systems, behaviours and design solutions

Interpreting design briefs to generate creative ideas, develop concepts and solve business problems through strategic design solutions and execution that demonstrates the commercial value of creativity

Managing a team of designers and production staff; including their deliverables, rostering, performance and progression

Coaching and mentor individual team members, supporting their development and ongoing upskilling in line with the brand’s digital transformation strategy

Driving scale, speed and efficiency but not at the expense of excellence

Network and proactively build relationships across multiple teams, departments and disciplines as necessary to achieve objectives and manage dependencies and stakeholders

The successful candidate will have:

Five to seven years of hands-on design experience, including experience of managing a team of creatives

Experience in digital and print media design

Experience in UX design

Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills

In-depth knowledge of recognised design industry tools and platforms (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma)

Documented creative ability to develop ideas, workflows, designs and propositions to engage customers and stakeholders

The ability to work under pressure to tight and frequently changing deadlines

Strong interpersonal skills, with a strong, self-directed work ethic
