Visa to buy Visa Europe in deal worth up to €21.2 billion

The purchase ends years of speculation over whether the companies would reunite

The world’s largest payments network Visa has agreed to buy Visa Europe in a deal €21.2 billion.

After eight years operating as separate companies, the move will unify the brand globally.

The transaction includes €16.5 billion upfront and as much as €4.7 billion more after the fourth anniversary of the deal’s completion.
