VHI announces second premium hike in six months

The insurer said increased healthcare, energy and wage costs were responsible for the decision

VHI is set to hike the price of its health insurance plans by an average of 7 per cent from the start of October, marking the second increase by the state-owned insurer in the last six months.

The move will add further pressure to hard-pressed families as the cost of living has soared over the last 18 months.
