Verhofstadt pledges support for special Brexit fund for Ireland

The European Parliament’s chief Brexit coordinator, Guy Verhofstadt, has pledged that the EU will provide dedicated funding to help Ireland cope with the effects of Brexit.

It comes ahead of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s visit to London tomorrow to urge British prime minister Theresa May to provide a clear plan on how to avoid a hard border after her Florence speech and to discuss how to restore the Northern Assembly.
