US security firm Norton injects €150m into Irish unit

Norton, which has slashed its workforce in Ireland by nearly half after selling part of its business in 2019, has received clearance in the UK for an $8bn acquisition

Norton, the US computer virus giant, has pumped nearly €150 million into its Irish unit this month.

Accounts filed with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) show NortonLifeLock Ireland, formerly known as Symantec, received a cash injection of €149.2 million from its US parent in July.

It comes after the company’s turnover fell by €396 million in 2021 following the sale of its enterprise security business to Broadcom for $10.7 billion in 2019.
