The new owner of the famous Central Bank building on Dublin’s Dame Street has come out in support of the city council’s controversial plans to pedestrianise College Green.

Hines, the multibillion-euro US company, paid €67 million last year for the former Central Bank headquarters up the street from College Green. It is planning a major conversion of the site into a retail and commercial plaza.
