The United Nations Human Rights Committee has criticised Ireland over insufficient anti-corruption measures; a lack of monitoring private security service providers; and collection and retention of data for the Public Services Card needed to access state services.

The human rights body late last month issued concluding observations on its fifth periodic review of Ireland’s compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which Ireland ratified in 1989.
