Ulster Bank to shut 22 branches and axe 220 jobs

Bank becomes latest lender to close premises across the country

Ulster Bank has become the latest lender to cut branches across the country - with a fifth of its network to shut and 220 jobs to go across its business in Ireland.

The bank today announced that 22 branches will close in the next number of months.

The branches being closed are in Donegal, Cavan, Mayo, Cork, Sligo, Limerick, Longford, Galway, Offaly and several in Dublin, including Dalkey and Donnybrook.

The bank said, however,it will upgrade a number of existing locations and provide two additional mobile branches. It also plans to expand the number of services customers can carry out in post offices.
