The US president is staking his game on aggressive anti-immigration pledges and stirring up his personal fanbase, a gameplan which could yet backfire, writes Marion McKeone

Win, lose or draw, most Americans will breathe a huge sigh of relief when the ugliest, most divisive election since, well, since 2016 draws to its rancorous, rage-fuelled close on Tuesday.
