Trawl of wealthy tax avoiders nets €44m

The Revenue Commissioners has taken in close to €44 million from a trawl of high net worth individuals who used tax avoidance schemes.

The haul was received ahead of a deadline at the end of June for individuals to make a voluntary settlement with the taxman. The Revenue said the settlements came from 137 cases, equivalent to an average of almost €320,000.
