The first Brexit referendum is now over three years old and is still routinely criticised for failing to ask voters a clear question about the precise kind of ‘leave’ they had in mind when they ticked that box. Now, with a Brexit deal still not secured, a second referendum is slap-bang in the middle of the conversation once again.
