Research pinpoints young people’s perceptions around cyberbullying

New research has found that teen girls are worried that artificial intelligence tools designed to protect them may be invading their privacy

Irish teens are wary of AI invading their privacy

A study by DCU’s Anti-Bullying Centre in collaboration with Adapt SFI Research Centre has examined the views of teenagers on AI tools that are used to detect cyberbullying on social media.

Fifty-nine teenagers aged 12-17 from Ireland participated in interviews and focus groups. The research consulted teenager’s views on proposed and existing AI interventions across popular social media applications such as Instagram and TikTok.
