Teaching your kids how to spend and save
Educating children and young people about money should begin at home - and there are easy ways for parents and guardians to do it
Just over half of Irish adults properly understand basic financial concepts. A global study by Standard & Poor’s in 2015 found that only 55 per cent of Irish adults are financially literate in concepts such as risk diversification, inflation, numeracy and interest compounding. This compares with 67 per cent for Britain and 71 per cent for Norway and Sweden. However, we performed better than France, Italy, Spain and Luxembourg.
