Rishi Sunak, the UK prime minister, is headed to Northern Ireland for talks with the region’s parties.

It comes as expectation mounts that Britain and EU will agree a deal on post-Brexit trading arrangements in the coming days.

Sunak is expected in Belfast as soon as this evening, according to a person familiar with his plans who spoke anonymously about the unannounced visit.
