The government will fail to meet its housing targets unless it tackles construction inflation as a matter of urgency, amid a situation that is worsening by the week for builders, politicians heard today.

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) told the Oireachtas housing committee that if the cost of building continues to rise, housing completions “will not be near the numbers required to meet government’s targets”.
