State shells out twice original asking price for €24m school site

The Department of Education spent €24 million buying a school site in Dublin which had earlier been put up for sale by a third-level institute for €12 million.

DIT wanted to sell off the Cathal Brugha College building to fund its new campus on the Grangegorman site. It dropped the original €15 million asking price to €12 million in May last year.
