State sharply criticised for lack of action on human trafficking

It is shocking that Ireland is so far below the United Nations’ minimum standard for preventing human trafficking, a leading expert has said.

Kevin Hyland, Britain’s former Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, made the comments after the suspected Irish links to the tragic case of 39 Vietnamese people who died in a refrigerated trailer while being transported into Britain.
