A state body responsible for providing financial and commercial advice to government ministers and state bodies has spent millions of euro obtaining external advice in recent years, new figures show.

NewERA, an arm of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), provides advisory services for a range of bodies including the ESB, Ervia and Irish Water.

It also helps develop proposals for investment in energy, telecoms, water, forestry and other areas.
