State blames labs as cancer screening scandal grows

The government is blaming the laboratories at the centre of the CervicalCheck cancer screening scandal for forcing terminally ill women to go to court.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Minister for Health Simon Harris have been accused of “welshing” on promises that none of the 221 women caught up in the scandal would be forced to seek redress in the courts as they would be offered mediation.
