Sponsor threat to George Hook over rape comments on Newstalk

The main sponsor of George Hook’s radio show High Noon has described the presenter’s comments about rape as “totally unacceptable” and threatened not to renew its contract with Newstalk.

Newstalk apologised yesterday for Hook’s comments, as did the presenter.

The station was criticised by Orla O’Connor, director of the National Women’s Council, who said that Hook’s comments were “shocking” and “disturbing”.
