New figures show there were also over 260 complaints of illegal evictions made by tenants last year

Almost 30,000 rogue landlords are being pursued by the rental standards watchdog for failing to register their tenants.

Most are believed to be landlords at the bottom end of the market who have been accepting cash payments from tenants to avoid the attention of Revenue.
