Peter Smyth, author of the report on Naughten and McCourt meetings, faces an Oireachtas committee grilling, write Jack Horgan-Jones and Hugh O’Connell

If Peter Smyth’s report was designed to pour oil on the stormy waters of the National Broadband Plan (NBP), there are increasing signs that far from calming affairs, it may ultimately make things worse. A widening chorus of voices is now criticising what they see as the mental acrobatics performed by Smyth to keep the NBP show on the road.
