Central Bank governor Patrick Honohan, who steps down from the role tomorrow, has said the remaining backlog of mortgage arrears is his biggest regret.

Speaking to reporters at a debt workshop organised by the Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI), Honohan said that solving the mortgage arrears crisis quickly was something he had been very anxious to do.
