The transition to renewable sources of energy is going to make the national power system far more complex to operate and manage, the head of the ESB has said.

In an interview with the Business Post, Paddy Hayes, the newly appointed chief executive of the semi-state energy company, said that the growth in renewables presented new challenges to keep the power grid stable.
