Shannon LNG considers terminal options over long appeals

Shannon LNG may alter its plans for a liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal on the Shannon estuary due to the lengthy judicial appeals process the project is caught up in.

A Project of Common Interest (PCI) hearing by the European Commission last week heard representations from stakeholders in the project. The Irish government reiterated its support for the scheme on energy security grounds, while various Irish NGOs voiced their opposition on environmental grounds.
