A secret ballot of European Central Bank policy makers yesterday turned the race to become the euro region’s next bank-supervision chief into a cliffhanger and put an end to the hopes of Ireland’s Sharon Donnery despite her frontrunner status.
The European Central Bank nominated veteran regulator Andrea Enria to become the second-ever head of its supervision arm, succeeding Daniele Nouy, according to a person familiar with the decision.
