Ryanair received €2m in improper aid from Austrian airport, EU says

Ryanair among three airlines that benefitted from improper aid from an Austrian airport operator

Aid granted by an Austrian airport operator was illegal and gave Ryanair and two other airlines "an undue advantage", the European Commission has said.

Ryanair received improper aid of €2 million from Klagenfurt airport in the south of Austria, it said, while German airline TUIfly owes €1.1 million. Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX), which since 2007 has been part of TUIfly, received €9.6 million in improper aid.
