Rush sparks report on credit union prize draws

Staff and directors won prizes at 30 per cent of the credit unions which operated prize draws, according to a Central Bank review

Rush Credit Union members were refunded over car draw concerns

A Central Bank review of prize draws held in credit unions has found instances of poor record-keeping, a lack of transparency and poor oversight by boards.

The inspection followed problems identified in 2016 in some credit unions, including in Rush, where €450,000 was returned to members after some disputed the deduction of money from their accounts for a car draw. A review could not locate details of draw winners, with no information published on theRush Credit Union website.
