Ronan consortium won’t sell part of Glass Bottle site to the state

An affordable homes plan at the site in Dublin 4 is still up in the air after the first phase was given the green light

The former Irish Glass Bottle site backs onto Sandymount Strand and overlooks Dublin Bay to the east

A Johnny Ronan-led consortium won’t sell part of the former Irish Glass Bottle site to the state, instead offering a long-term leasing deal, amid ongoing negotiations around the delivery of social and affordable homes at Poolbeg.

The Business Post understands that, earlier this year, Ronan Group considered a sale of a portion of the land to the state, but ultimately did not want to remove the consortium chosen to redevelop the site as the primary developer of the land, the first phase of which was given the green light by Dublin City Council six weeks ago.
